Electronics masking
Alternator, fuse box, intake and exposed connectors covered before any liquid is used.
Add-On Service · Orland Park, IL
A clean engine bay is not just cosmetic. It makes fluid leaks visible, keeps grime off electrical connectors, and adds real value when a buyer or an inspector opens the hood.

The risk in engine bay cleaning is water where it does not belong. We mask the alternator, intake, fuse box, coil packs and any exposed sensor connections before anything gets wet, and we use controlled low pressure rather than a jet.
Degreaser is applied by hand, agitated with brushes matched to the surface, then rinsed and dried with filtered air. Plastics and hoses are dressed to a satin finish rather than left greasy, so dust does not stick straight back on.
Included

Alternator, fuse box, intake and exposed connectors covered before any liquid is used.

Degreaser applied and agitated by hand across the bay, wheel wells and underside of the hood.

Low pressure rinse only, kept away from anything that should stay dry.

Filtered air blows water out of gaps and connector housings.

Satin dressing that restores color without leaving a greasy film.

We check for anything that looks like a developing leak and tell you about it.
Process
Work starts on a cool engine so degreaser does not flash off and stain.
Everything sensitive gets covered before a drop of liquid appears.
Degrease, agitate, rinse at low pressure, repeat where needed.
Forced air drying, then dressing on plastics, hoses and covers.
Worth knowing
Buyers and appraisers open the hood. A clean bay reads as a maintained vehicle.
You cannot identify a fresh leak in a bay coated in ten years of oil film.
Mechanics work faster and see more on a clean engine, and so does an inspector.
The hood goes up at every meet, and it is the one area most people skip.
Most engine bay horror stories come from one thing: a pressure washer aimed at a connector. Water forced into a sealed housing does not evaporate, it sits there and corrodes pins until you get an intermittent fault six weeks later that nobody links back to the wash.
We mask before anything gets wet, use low pressure only, and dry with filtered air afterwards so nothing is left sitting in a gap. It takes longer than blasting the bay and rolling on, which is exactly the point.
We also work on a cool engine. Degreaser on a hot block flashes off before it can work and can stain aluminium and painted covers.

It is when it is done properly. The risk comes from high pressure water and unprotected electronics, which is why we mask sensitive components and use controlled low pressure rinsing rather than a jet.
Not when connectors and modules are covered beforehand and the bay is dried with forced air afterwards. We do not soak the bay and we do not spray directly into connectors.
Around one to two hours on its own, depending on how much built up grime and oil film is present. It is often added onto a full detail.
It helps. Buyers and inspectors open the hood, and a clean bay signals that a car has been looked after. It also makes any genuine leak easier to identify.
